Not feeling well from The Cottage of Blog
The Cottage of Blog
The subject title says it all. I'm on the way to bed. Before I go though, I'm wondering if someone can point me in the direction of some really great children's books. Yes, I know about the Harry Potter books--have all the DVD's have all the books and am getting the latest one for my birthday. I have Black Beauty, Smoky, My Friend Flicka, Lassie etc. I mean today's books.
I've realized my education in childrens books is lacking and I'd love to read some really good ones. I'm going to the library tomorrow -- so I was wondering--
Oh dear, Ireally do have to get to bed.

Wish I could be of more help, but I'm a moron when it comes to children's books.

Pat, hugs! I hope you're feeling better!
Do you mean purely childrens books, or more "older" kids and even YA? For younger children, I listed some of our favorites on my blog today. Add to that Giggle Giggle Quack and you have a good list of incredibly funny and priceless books my monsters love.
My first grader loves Junie B books about a little girl in kindergarten, her first "chapter" books.
For the middle reader? age about 8 to 14? I would suggest the following:
A series of Unfortunate Events-Lemony Snicket
The Spiderwick Chronicles by Holly Black and Tony De Tierlizie (I probably spelled that wrong so I apologize in advance)
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
(this is a series as well)
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke (She also has other titles out called Inkspell and one other that I haven't read yet.)
Whispering to Witches by Anna Dale (This is wonderful by the way.)
Old favorites are the Walter Farley books: i.e. The Black Stallion, The Black Stallion returns, Man of War, etc.
My daughter also loves:
The graphic novels about Teen Titans
Anything Lizzie McGuire
W.I.T.C.H. Witch is also another anime inspired book series about the television show.
Hope that helps.
