The Lap Top Cometh from The Cottage of Blog

The Cottage of Blog

My computer arrived this afternoon. Poor Bruce spent all day waiting for it, while I was at schoo. Wouldn't you know the UPS truck arrived about 10 minutes after I arrived home. At least it arrived today. I wouldn't have wanted to make arrangements again.

I just wish--really wish--companies etc. could at least give you an approximate time of arrival. Like between 9 and 12 or 1 and 5 or something like that. Some do. Other's, like UPS don't.

It's a big larger than I remember. When I saw it in the store, it called my name. Working it was fun. But, I didn't get to carry it around much. The computer weighs 6.5 pounds, or something like that. It has a 15.4 inch screen, which I love, but the resolution is a bit duller than I'd like and the print (probably in all laptops) is too small. I'll have to figure out how to change to font to something a bit larger.

I didn't realize the new XP's are compartmentalized like the old NT's. One of my former schools provided us with Gateway NT. I didn't much like it and had someone come and restructure the harddrive. We'll see with this one. As I said, it's really lovely.

It's freezing in the land of blog today. The snow wasn't that heavy. We got about 6 inches. But the drive home last night was horrid. Drive home tonight was sbetter, but still not wonderful. (what drive home from work ever is?)

School: Progress reports go in on Tuesday, so much of my weekend will be dedicated to grading last minute papers (I really should allow that) and transferring the grades into my new computer software program "Gradekeeper." It's a great program, if anyone out there is a teacher and wants a good grade software program.

Writing: I'm resolved to write another two scenes this weekend. Where I left off, Annie had just met some of the ladies of Nager, one with a major crush on what will turn out to be, Annie's love interest. (although neither one of them know it at this point--in fact, they really don't like each other) Annie sticks up for a waitress who was being harrassed by a busboy. Her character seems to be evolving as a sort of crusader--nurturer. She can't stand to see other's belittled or harrassed without sticking up for them. Maybe it's her background. She's been abused, so she can't stand to see others treated that way. I think she may be beoming a real person.

I'm heading for bed right now.

So, saying good night from The Cottage of Blog.

Pat
